vmassol - (00:09): lucaa: thomasM would know more since he's coded this
vmassol - (00:09): I think it's by design but we haven't paid attention to the size and there are stuff that should not be included in the zip as you mentioned
lucaa - (00:10): I was going to search that code too, but I drifted a bit
vmassol - (00:10): 45MB for exporting a page to HTML is indeed quite a lot :)
vmassol - (00:24): nn

bblfish - (08:52): good morning
vmassol - (08:53): good morning
bblfish - (08:54): vmassol: I think chromium is cheating a bit with memory useage. In fact one has to be careful and see all the threads it creates and calculate how much mem they take up. It seems to be 20MB per thread. Not sure how much is shared.
bblfish - (08:55): so all in all I don't think it uses less memory that Opera. But it's nice
vmassol - (08:57): ok
bblfish - (08:58): is myxwiki fixed?
vmassol - (08:58): no
vmassol - (08:58): I've downgraded it to 2.2
vmassol - (08:58): today we need to find out what the pb is
vmassol - (08:58): and there are still pbs even now with 2.2
bblfish - (08:59): oh dear, mhh. Sounds like a Database change
vmassol - (09:00): there are 2 pbs I know
vmassol - (09:00): - recent changes
vmassol - (09:00): - my recent modifications panel
vmassol - (09:00): probably the same problem
vmassol - (09:00): CalebJamesDeLisl sent a mail, need to read it and find when we caused a regression
vmassol - (09:00): it's not happening on my local 2.2 so it's probably related to mysql
vmassol - (09:01): (since my local install is hsqldb)
bblfish - (09:01): ok, good luck. I'll try finishing my "RDF Semantics" paper...
vmassol - (09:01): but I'm surprised we didn't got more reported problems with 2.2 so something is amiss
vmassol - (09:01): s/got/get/
CalebJamesDeLisl - (09:05): Good morning, what was the last version on myxwiki before 2.2?
vmassol - (09:05): you mean before we upgraded to 2.3 snap?
CalebJamesDeLisl - (09:05): Yes, that's what I meant.
vmassol - (09:05): hmm must have been 2.0.2 I think
vmassol - (09:05): maybe 2.1
vmassol - (09:05): I don't know
CalebJamesDeLisl - (09:06): Lot of changes in HibernateStore since 2.1
CalebJamesDeLisl - (09:14): xwiki.org is running okay on 2.2.1.27354
CalebJamesDeLisl - (09:15): Looks like maybe it's just mysql configuration.
vmassol - (09:19): hmm
jvdrean joined #xwiki at 09:20
vmassol - (09:21): first I'd like to understand why tehre are so many DB that fail to upgrade, mysql says they don't exist
jvdrean - (09:21): Hi, RecentChanges is broken on 2.3 if running on mysql ?
vmassol - (09:21): nantesjug, testtestN, etc, there are about 20 or 30 that fail at startup
vmassol - (09:21): jvdrean: on 2.2 right now it's broken
vmassol - (09:22): I've put back 2.2 yesterday

vmassol - (09:38): jvdrean: what should people do when they have big buttons? (as on http://wikiparis.myxwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/wiki/). Is there a way for us to avoid this pb?
jvdrean - (09:39): they must upgrade their wiki with the latest XAR
vmassol - (09:40): yes but more specifically?
vmassol - (09:40): any page?
jvdrean - (09:40): I can't see the page but I assume it's the search panel
vmassol - (09:40): yes
jvdrean - (09:40): so the page in question is the search panel
vmassol - (09:40): so the search panel page?
vmassol - (09:40): we changed the image?
jvdrean - (09:40): we changed ids to classes iirc

vmassol - (09:49): http://myxwiki.org/xwiki/bin/delete/XWiki/XWikiServerAsiri
vmassol - (09:51): we need to get teh SQL query that executes

vmassol - (09:53): on xwiki.org: mysql Ver 14.12 Distrib 5.0.51a, for debian-linux-gnu (x86_64) using readline 5.2

tmortagne - (10:04): is there anything needed before ?
vmassol - (10:04): well if we find a pb on 2.2 on myxwiki.org
vmassol - (10:05): it would be good to have the fix
vmassol - (10:05): but we still don't know what the pb is
vmassol - (10:06): I've just tried with a recent mysql and 2.2 branch locally and I don't have the pb
vmassol - (10:08): guysn wdyt about turning on logging on myxwiki.org to see the SQL calls that execute?

vmassol - (10:24): jvdrean: hmm /tmp is full but it's very small too
vmassol - (10:24): is that normal?

vmassol - (10:27): and this was the pb with 2.3 too
vmassol - (10:27): pfew
vmassol - (10:27): tmortagne: you can go ahead with the release I think
vmassol - (10:27): ok so here's the story:
vmassol - (10:28): when I couldn't start tomcat yesterday with the jars provided by henry, I moved them to /tmp tmeporarily
vmassol - (10:28): I also used tmp to copy some log files so that I could look at them
vmassol - (10:28): this filled /tmp
vmassol - (10:28): and caused all the pbs I had to restart tomcat on 2.3
vmassol - (10:28): and somehwoe it restarted better on 2.2
vmassol - (10:29): but not fully since we had this query on error
vmassol - (10:29): we have 16K of /tmp on myxwiki.org.....
vmassol - (10:29): 16MB
CalebJamesDeLisl - (10:30): Just started 2.3 trunk on mysql and imported default pages.
CalebJamesDeLisl - (10:30): no panels, looks like albatross skin...
xipe - (10:30): that's normal, /tmp is a tmpfs (it's in ram not on disk) to speed up performances
vmassol - (10:30): so now I'm going to stop myxwiki.org agaion
vmassol - (10:30): and move back to 2.3 snap
CalebJamesDeLisl - (10:30): I'll keep looking for (my) mistakes.
xipe - (10:30): but if you need to move big files, you should use /var/tmp/

vmassol - (11:46): on the positivie side: excluding a space is working well
vmassol - (11:47): wild idea: allow to import a preconfigured list of files to exclude… or have the notion of sets
vmassol - (11:49): jvdrean/tmortagne: I'm going to add to the history (I think it's the safest to useà, ok?
tmortagne - (11:49): +1
jvdrean - (11:50): +1
tmortagne - (11:50): it's a good use case to test this feature anyway and since it's supposed to be the default and safest we should validate it as much as we can
vmassol - (11:51): we're missing versoin 1.1
vmassol - (11:51): for ex: http://myxwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Main/AllDocs?viewer=history&showminor=true
tmortagne - (11:52): you mean for old docs ?
vmassol - (11:52): seems to be everywhere: http://myxwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Main/?viewer=history&showminor=true
tmortagne - (11:52): or the one you just imported ?$
vmassol - (11:52): I imported over
vmassol - (11:52): so docs were already there
tmortagne - (11:52): the lost version bug is a 2.2 bug
sdumitriu - (11:52): There was a bug
vmassol - (11:53): yes but I thought it was only a display issue
sdumitriu - (11:53): Nope
vmassol - (11:53): is the history really not there anymore?
tmortagne - (11:53): no it's not that's why it was blocker
sdumitriu - (11:53): Import does not affect display
sdumitriu - (11:53): It's supposed to be fixed now
tmortagne - (11:53): yes
vmassol - (11:53): ok
vmassol - (11:56): for template/playground, we should overwite the history IMO and not add
sdumitriu - (11:57): +1
jvdrean - (11:57): +1
tmortagne - (11:57): yes (that's what i have done last time)
vmassol - (11:57): adding to the doc
vmassol - (11:58): Reset to 1.1? or import history from package?
vmassol - (11:58): I'd say reset to 1.1
sdumitriu - (11:58): reset
tmortagne - (11:58): it's supposed to be the same anyway with proper XE pages
tmortagne - (11:58): but reset makes more sense here
vmassol - (12:00): we should really do something about those ugly question marks thomas
vmassol - (12:01): for now I'm adding home pages manually to the template
tmortagne - (12:02): what question marks ?
vmassol - (12:02): XApp* spaces and co
tmortagne - (12:02): on main wiki ?
vmassol - (12:02): (there are no homes)
vmassol - (12:02): no on subwikis
tmortagne - (12:03): the real issue is not that they don't have home page
tmortagne - (12:03): these pages should not be generated on su wikis
tmortagne - (12:03): at least subwiki that don't use application manager
vmassol - (12:03): they are AFAIR because the classesa re created
vmassol - (12:03): maybe that's a bug
tmortagne - (12:04): IMO these pages you have currently are just old pages
vmassol - (12:04): or maybe our template wiki is wrong
tmortagne - (12:04): i fixed that a long time ago
vmassol - (12:04): so can I remove them from the template wiki?
tmortagne - (12:04): you can remove them for sure it's useless in the template
vmassol - (12:06): I'd like to wipe the playground, do we have a script for that? Should I do it from the db?
vmassol - (12:06): playground.myxwiki.org
vmassol - (12:06): I guess I can delete the wiki from the ui and recreate it
vmassol - (12:07): wdyt?
tmortagne - (12:07): we don't have anything to wipe a wiki AFAIK but you can recreate it yes
vmassol - (12:08): ok trying that

tmortagne - (12:11): no it work well, i created one recently on 2.2.1
vmassol - (12:11): (the delete worked and the desc was removed)
vmassol - (12:11): but the creation failed
vmassol - (12:11): how can you say it works well? :)
vmassol - (12:12): check template.myxwiki.org and playground.myxwiki.org
vmassol - (12:12): I cannot even go to the admin page
tmortagne - (12:12): i i meant was there is no known bug
vmassol - (12:12): so it could be a bug in 2.3
tmortagne - (12:13): XWiki#copyWiki as been "fixed" recently maybe there is a bug in it
vmassol - (12:13): this is a snapshot from 3/3
tmortagne - (12:13): that's the only difference i can see between 2.3 and 2.2.1
vmassol - (12:14): I'm going to dekete the playground wiki for now
vmassol - (12:14): *delete
vmassol - (12:14): till we fix the wiki creation
tmortagne - (12:15): wiki is properly created that's the copy that did not worked for you it seems
tmortagne - (12:15): you could create an empty wiki
tmortagne - (12:15): and import
vmassol - (12:15): ok trying this
tmortagne - (12:15): that's why i think it's related to XWiki#copyWiki
tmortagne - (12:16): problem is the copy wiki fix has been committed in 2.2.2 too i think
tmortagne - (12:16): checking
vmassol - (12:17): ok done
vmassol - (12:18): hmm yes maybe we need to look at this before finishing the 2.2.2 release
tmortagne - (12:19): vmassol: do you have anything in the log ?
sdumitriu - (12:19): Well, it should not cause problems
sdumitriu - (12:19): The fix was simple

tmortagne - (12:27): the behavior of the home page is because it can't access the XWikiPreference page it seems
vmassol - (12:27): yes
tmortagne - (12:27): but i don't know what could cause this
vmassol - (12:30): jvdrean: can I let you do the tweet + mail?
tmortagne - (12:30): looks like a pretty low level bug in the copy somewhere, i hope 2.2.2 doe snot have the issue, i'm testing
sdumitriu - (12:31): I saw some changes in the doc clone code
sdumitriu - (12:31): Related to references
sdumitriu - (12:31): It could be from there
vmassol - (12:32): jvdrean: I can do the mail but I don't have the tweeter account access

mflorea - (16:34): tmortagne: do you know anything about the "delete" event not being fired by the notification component?

mflorea - (16:35): but I don't get any delete event in onEvent, only save and view

mflorea - (16:43): my bad, I searched for references of this method but I don't have the om module imported in eclipse and I haven't noticed the @see
mflorea - (16:43): what's the difference?
tmortagne - (16:44): save action event is when someone ask for the URL /xwiki/bin/save....
tmortagne - (16:44): not when a document is saved
tmortagne - (16:45): in short statistics module does not store what happen in XWiki but users actions
florinciu joined #xwiki at 16:48
mflorea - (16:48): hmm, I'm not sure what's best.. /bin/save can lead to 0 or no saves at document level.
mflorea - (16:49): 0 or multiple, I mean
tmortagne - (16:51): it depends what we want to log in the stats, currently it seems user action has been listen on purpose instead of storage events
tmortagne - (16:51): amkes sense to me
tmortagne - (16:51): makes

tmortagne - (16:53): sure
mflorea - (16:54): it should be configurable I think
mflorea - (16:54): although no one complained so far
mflorea - (16:54): so I guess the current behavior is fine
tmortagne - (16:56): no sure it's that heavily used ;)
mflorea - (16:56): that's true also
mflorea - (16:58): the problem is that statistics can mislead you if you don't know how they were recorded.
mflorea - (17:05): for instance, if you go to /bin/view/UnexistingPage the stats module records a view for this page although this page doesn't exist
mflorea - (17:06): and you can have it as "the most viewed page" :)
tmortagne - (17:06): not sure at which point the event is generated
tmortagne - (17:06): you tested it ?
mflorea - (17:06): yes, the view counter is incremented each time I visit the page
tmortagne - (17:07): we could generate action event only if the action did not produced an error maybe
mflorea - (17:07): I can modify the stats to check if the page exists
tmortagne - (17:07): now maybe you want to know that
mflorea - (17:07): isNew = false
tmortagne - (17:07): that there is an issue somewhere like a dead link that make a lot of people goes to a wrong page
tmortagne - (17:08): after the user did asked to view the page

sdumitriu - (19:25): vmassol: Can you explain what you mean by this:
sdumitriu - (19:25): * modify the XWikiDocument's javadoc to deprecate setDocumentReference and all setXXX that change the reference since XWikiDocument should be immutable re its reference (the storage impl today doesn't support a XWikiDocument that has its reference that is modified).
vmassol - (19:27): actually it's thomas who explained this to me
vmassol - (19:27): does it work?

sdumitriu - (19:28): But I mean explain differently
sdumitriu - (19:28): Not why, but what
vmassol - (19:28): the idea is that XWikiDocumet takes the ref in its consturctor
vmassol - (19:29): and that once a XWikiDoc has been created it hsould change its ref
vmassol - (19:29): shouldn't
vmassol - (19:29): (not should)

sdumitriu - (19:29): OK, I see
vmassol - (19:30): this is not really related to my change
vmassol - (19:30): it's just the realization that changing the ref isn't probably working right now

sdumitriu - (22:37): Yep
vmassol - (22:37): we mentioned it but the talk was about switching to derby

CalebJamesDeLisl - (22:40): I don't know much about the default system, guessing hsql writes to /work ?
CalebJamesDeLisl - (22:46): re care to try it: Right now I want to look more into fully support postgres, and then think about possibly doing functional testing on different databases. I have a lot to read as it is.

vmassol - (22:46): CalebJamesDeLisl: yes what would be awesome would to get posgres to work in mutlwiki mode
vmassol - (22:47): that would open the door to automated functional tests for XEM
